Spamhaus
« on: September 25, 2007, 05:41:49 PM »

Ok if this idea has never been requested I would be quite suprised. My idea is to add a function to anope that interfaces with spamhuas databases that would auto reject ip's banned through their databases. Of course this would be a feature if interfaced in with anope that would be able to be turned off and on.;)

So what's wrong with BOPM?

And as well as that, why a DNSBL centralized on email related spam?

Anope used to come with a proxy detector, it was removed for several reasons. Use bopm, ircdefender, neostats' opsb or ant of the dozens of other applications that only do slightly different things.

Moving to modules.

There is apparently nothing wrong with BOPM :) besides the fact that I do not know what it is and if it works for windows based. and spamhaus, the reason i brought it up, and I know it is used for email, however, it autobans bad addresses with the option to the user to get their own IP released through them if it is in fact a bad ban.

BOPM is the best option, but does not support windows.
there is something called winbopm (http://www.vulnscan.org/winbopm)  but i do not know whether it still maintained or whether it even works.

ircdefender is perl based so should work on any OS that supports perl, but i don't know of any DNSBL module for it.
and neostats: no idea whether it works on windows...

when stuck to windows, your options are much more limited...

btw some IRCd's even have built-in DNSBL list functionality... maybe an idea to suggest it as an unreal module... makes much more sense imho then an anope module.

bad addresses for email may be perfectly good addresses for IRC....
