Databases?! Broken?!
« on: November 15, 2006, 12:18:47 AM »

Hi,

i've been using anope for a long time now, liking it a bit more then all the other services, but today, the databases stopped working (i guess)

for example:

/topic foobar
/cs set #channel topiclock on
/part #channel
/join #channel
>> so around here i notice the topic is blank
/topic poopy
Bot has changed the topic to: " (Bot)"

WTF?!

And alot of other wierd things have been happening.

Any help?

ty

EDIT: topic FUBAR lolz..

1> set the topic with chanserv and it will be locked.
2> "alot of other wierd things " tells us absolutely nothing, therefore we can do absolutely nothing.

PS: Your sig is completely immature and incorrect. Anope isn't one of the most popular Services package because it breaks things. If you want our help fixing your issues, remove the sig and share more information and less vague accusations.

The given behaviour is completely normal.

/topic foobar

The topic gets set to foobar, as should happen

/cs set #channel topiclock on

Topiclock is enabled: the only way to change the topic now is via /cs topic

/part #channel
/join #channel

You rejoin the channel. During this the channel is empty for a moment, and every data known about the channel gets forgotten by the IRC server.

>> so around here i notice the topic is blank

Correct, the IRC server doesn't know about any old topics set as the channel has been recreated, and Anope doesn't have KEEPTOPIC enabled so it doesn't try to remember the topic either.

/topic poopy
Bot has changed the topic to: " (Bot)"

This is the result of TOPICLOCK, as said above...
