Greets & Host Masks
« on: January 08, 2007, 11:48:43 PM »

Hey guys, I'm having two separate minor (but irritating) problems.

The first problem is that, after setting a bot with botserv and assigning them to a channel, as well as turning on the greet option, even with a nickserv greeting set, it's not showing in the channel.

For an example, setting up the bot:
Quote
• 18:09 • -BotServ- bierce!bore@a.person.who.talks.when.you.wish.him.to.listen (Suspire Services v2.0) added to the bot list.
-
• 18:10 • -BotServ- Private mode of bot bierce is now ON.
-
• 18:10 • -BotServ- Bot bierce has been assigned to #ooc.
-
• 18:11 • -BotServ- Greet mode is now ON on channel #ooc.

Then setting up the nickserv greeting:
Quote
• 18:11 • -NickServ- Greet message changed to cut these eyes, and I will see; kiss these lying lips for me; stroke this skin and I will kneel; brutalize me, I will heal.

When #ooc is joined, there's no greeting message.  When I checked the info for #ooc, this is what it gave in return:
Quote
• 18:13 • -BotServ- Information for channel #ooc:
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-            Bot nick : bierce
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-    Bad words kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-        Bolds kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-         Caps kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-       Colors kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-        Flood kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-       Repeat kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-     Reverses kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-   Underlines kicker : disabled
-
• 18:13 • -BotServ-             Options : Fantasy, Greet, Symbiosis

So, yeah, no idea why that's not working.  Any help with that would be appreciated....

And for number two of the problems... which I'm not entirely certain is a problem or something I might have just missed is.

I've been on a network where, when you would identify with nickserv, it would automatically assign you a hostmask.  For instance, if your real IP was szantovitch@222.comcast.net, when you registered up with nickserv for the nick szantovitch, it would automatically change it (for everyone not an oper) to show szantovitch@szantovitch.network.org on a /whois szantovitch.

Thanks for your time, guys.

do you have ChanServ XOP options disabled on your channel? is yes, make sure you have the correct settings for GREET LEVELs on the channel.
