PANIC! on try to drop a forbidden channel
« on: April 11, 2007, 11:19:01 PM »

Hi,

I just forbid a channel, but when I try to unforbid it, I get this:

[00:07] -uv001.CVS-Net.de- *** Global -- from sv250.CVS-Net.de: PANIC! buffer = :Ryoga PRIVMSG chanserv@sv250.CVS-Net.de :drop #chans

[00:07] -uv001.CVS-Net.de- *** LocOps -- Server sv250.CVS-Net.de[89.149.217.114] closed the connection

Has anyone an idea what causes this and how to solve it?

Well because of the warning that 1.7.18 does not run as stable as previous versions, I don't update yet. Disabling SQL temporarily to drop the channels works fine for me as well.

There is nothing unstable about 1.7.18, I'm not sure where you heard that. however, it's not true. The biggest difference between 1.7.17 and 1.7.18 are a few tweaks and several bug fixes over 1.7.17. 1.7.18 has a few known issues with the mysql code, but those issues aren't any worse than those in 1.7.17.

(...)Please note that, due to the big changes, this release might not be as stable as previous development releases.(...)

Please notice the word "might". That means maybe. It didn't say it *is* unstable. That was also posted before 1.7.18 was used by hundreds of people.

Also if stablility is sucha huge issue, then do not use 1.7, use the 1.6 branch. Development branches of any software are not tested in a production environment as well or as long as a release versions. Development versions *might* be unstable.
