Title: A couple of questions
Post by: Enigma on February 02, 2010, 02:34:42 PM
Hi guys

Im new to the site and to anope. The guy that set our servers up has since left us.

Firstly, when a user joined/left a channel, we used to get a msg in services from connectserv and global stating this. Now for some reason, we only get one from connectserv. Any ideas?

Secondly, whenever a user changes their nick, connectserv gives a message in services saying "<nick>  is now a Services Administrator (+a)". This happens with EVERY nick change :S

Hope you guys can help.

Regards

connectserv is nothing to do with anope, but /os set logchan on , should show connects/quits from Global, and the other thing is also just connectserv showing pointless stuff, /msg connectserv help set or something to change what it shows, i'm sure it cant be every nick change it's doing it on, most likely someone who is actually services-admin.

Hi LethaLity

Thanks for your reply. The "/os set logchan on" worked fine thanks.

As for the other problem, i cant find anything on the connectserv help (and yes, it happens with every nick change, even non registered nicks). The only other thing i can think of is the guy that left us set it up so as the users nick would be changed to guest if they didnt identify. This problem has been happening since then. But i cant find where he changed that. I thought it might have been NSDefKill, but that is commented out.

Any idea where else he could have done it?

ConnectServ is not a part of anope.. it is part of NeoStats which is no longer maintained nor supported.. it never was really stable anyways..
so wherever he did it, it s unlikely it was in anope...

Hi Jan

I realise that, i was just hoping someone here may have used it and may have had an idea what the problem was.

Afternoon Enigma,

Jan was right, connectserv was part of NeoStats. Your best bet, unless you can find a patch for it, is to remove it completely. As it's no longer supported, as said by one of the users above me.

Also; NsDefKill isn't a connectserv directive. That allows the 60 second timeout for users that have their nick registered.

Thanks,

Jordan
