Anope as Windows service?
« on: May 24, 2006, 02:09:58 AM »

I'm just posting that the next release of Anope should be part of the Windows services control panel, so that if you have to restart Anope services, the Windows services MMC can restart it automaticly. As currently when you issue a /operserv restart Anope does not restart and relink at all.

Anope needs an ircd to run, see no point in having it run as a windows service since only one ported ircd to win32 actually runs as a service (even that is optional).. so why have Anope start automatically, have no ircd and just stop any ways?

As a service Windows has configuration options that allow a service to be restarted automatically if it is terminated. That's useful enough in itself for consideration.
