Channel Administration
« on: October 18, 2006, 06:52:52 PM »

Hi guys!

I wonder if this module exists:

I want to restrict channel registration to service opers only.
I've tried to restrict chanserv so only IRC Operators would be permitted to use it (CSOpersOnly), but this way a channel operator/owner can't change their channel access list, coz they don't have access to Chanserv.

Is there any module to restrict channel registration but let users change their channels access lists? Or do you have any other suggestion?
I hope everyone understands this..

Thanks

You can download module cs_operonly_register.c from the module site. That will make it so only ircops can register channels.

Hi Alex

Thanks for you help.

I found cs_operonly_register.c v1.01. Is this the most recent version?
I tried to compile it but unsuccessfully. Lots of errors and in a windows environment doesn't seem to be a piece of cake (at least of me).
Could you please compile the module and share the .dll file with me? Or maybe point me too another module?

Thanks for your help ;)

consider it done :-)

just check the modules site... at the time of writing it still has to be set active by the admins though... so atm you can't see it yet

btw i did rename it to cs_register_operonly

well the module just adds an extra check to the system... the other requirements are still valid, meaning the ircop has to join the channel and op himself there to be able to register it..

Viper, thanks again! It works perfectly.

btw, is there any chance for an ircop or a service admin to register a channel while being "outside the channel"?
What I mean is, I would like to offer my network users a channel registration service, where my service admins would register all channels, but not having to join them to register them. They could use a common nick for all registered channels (ie: chanreg) as founder to all registered channels.
Is this possible? Is there any module that does this?
I hope it makes sense to you.

Thanks for your help!!

well registering a channel without having to be on it can't be hard, dunno about setting a common founder nick for all channels though.would have to be an existing user, and also without founder there s a lot people can't do with their channels. something makes me think they won't like that at all... levels for example or adding sops...
