when you start the server, look at the little icon on the taskbar. right click. find config. click the ircd.motd  and type what ever you want. then when done, click the little floppy icon on the screen where you typed your motd, and close it, or leave it open, then type /motd

motd is simply a file displayed to users when they log on to the network. it can be used to give rules or other network information. to set it, edit or create the ircd.motd file in the same directory as your unrealircd.conf file. then you will execute the "/rehash -motd" (without quotes) command in unrealircd and you will have a motd on your server. you can check it with the /motd command.
