Anope IRC Services don't load 3rd party modules! [Edited]
« on: February 03, 2008, 12:42:08 AM »

Hi Anope Team,

I have a problem. My Anope can't find the file "MSVCR90.dll" when i write in the cmd (under Windows XP): "anope.exe -skeleton" I have the newest version of Anope IRC Services (1.7.21). Must i update my Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 (Redistibutable)?

Thanks for help. (My english is bad, i know ^^)

sincerely yours,
KnopeX

PS: A german forum for german users is a practical idea, or not?

as per the instructions, yes you must.

http://anope.info/wiki/Windows#Precompiled_Version

Everything on that list is required, nothing is optional.

Re-install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) package.

it is in the runtimes, you shouldn't need to download it seperately. In fact you shouldn't download it separately for obvious security reasons. If the runtime installation fails, re-install it again and reboot.

That is the only thing that will cause that error, so that is the only fix available. So if you get that error, you still don't have the runtimes installed correctly. Anope works correctly for hundreds of other Windows users, including myself. So it has to be something specific to you.

Anope for Windows ONLY works on Windows NT based OS's such as 2000, XP, Vista, 2003, 2008. Anope does NOT work on win9x based OS's including windows95, 98 or ME

This became a bit more obvious on IRC.. Jobe noted it is asking for MSVCR90.dll whereas anope normally asks forMSVCR80.dll .. also note that it is ircd_init complaining. KnopeX  had the same issue with ircd_vhostserv, but could successfuly load my bs_fantasy_ext which was compiled on vista...
Therefore only one conclusion remains... something is wrong with n00bie's .dll's...
