MODULE REQUEST: keep login attempts
« on: July 04, 2008, 07:06:17 PM »

Hello,

It would be nice a module that can keep/log the IP (and nick/ident/host) of those who tried to identify with your nick and send them to anyone after successful identification. With that way you can find out if anyone tried to hack your nick.

-NickServ- 1 failed login since Jun 27 22:32:44 2008.
-NickServ- Last failed attempt from: demon!demon@blablabla.blabla.bla on Jul 04 18:00:45 2008.

The same for channels (when owner identifies with a chan to see if anyone tried to steal it).

sounds good. I'd accept this request but I don't have the time atm .. maybe one of the other mod coders can get to this.

yeah sounds good.

I want to suggest some extensions for that, what could be discussed:

- make a configurable option of how many failed login-attempts could be done "unlogged", so eg only after 3 failed logins within 10 minutes the fourth logs the attempt. otherwise the log-session gets dropped. (internally it stil llogs, but externally the user doesnt get annoyed)
- alternatively send an email if email-functionality is on.

Any update for this module? :)

You need to have patience.

1> Modules don't normally get written overnight unless they are insanely easy.
2> There is only 2-3 active module coders, I being one of them and I've already said I'm too busy right now.

So just relax.  ;)

Two coders can code it at the same time without knowing each other that the other persons have already started writing the module, this things can happen. So i think if someone will be writing this module, this thread will be notified. "Slow and steady wins the race.."  :P
