Hello to all, i am new here.

I have installed anope 1.8 RC1 with unrealircd 3.7

My question is why nickserv dont change user nick if user dont identify it?

Do i have to set it somewhere?

I would like that nickserv forces guest nick on user if it will not identify like 60 seconds or so...

ps: Is it reccomended for me to update 1.8 stable ?

I'd highly suggest upgrading Anope 1.8 stable -- I'd also consider upgrading Unreal to 3.2.8, which was recently released. You may want to wait a little on Unreal to ensure it's bug free. =)

Upgrading to 1.8.0 stable branch is a definite. It's all so sparkly

Also You have to have one of the following directions in the services.conf

NSDefKill - for 60 seconds
NSDefKillQuick - for 20 seconds

after time period it will change to the Guest nick you specified.

This is applied for each new nick that is registered

Thank you for quick replys, i tryed now changing those values in settings.conf

Made new account then closed java applet and opened again, i did not identify myself

Nickserv says after 1 minute:

-NickServ- Your nickname is now being changed to Guest19778

But it wont change name?

I've never used java applets or anything like that but maybe its not getting the msg to change your nickname im not sure... try a regular irc client if that doesnt do it then.... Reinstall anope? Cause I see no reason why it wouldn't change it.

Same thing with mIRC, it says tha changing your nick after 1 minute, but it wont...

I am not sure how to upgrade or reinstall anope so it keeps my already registered users and channels and so on...

Readme is confusing about upgrading.

Basically if you are upgradeing save all the files ending in .db and your services.conf then just do the same thing to install 1.8.0 stable that you did to install 1.8.0 rc1 and put your .db files and services.conf in same folder it was before
for *UNIX its /services folder by default
if its windows then its anope/data folder by default

Also Check your ulines in unrealircd.conf make sure anope is in them

I could see that causing some communication problems..

It says it's going to change the name, but doesn't change it, right?

Yeah, that is propably problem, since i am a noob at all this, i puted on install there services.mydmain.com

but services.mydomain.com is not actually forwarded to anywhere....

services are in localhost so i now tried to put there same ip where my ircd is, and rehashed unreal but no luck....

I doubt it will matter if it's all on the same box.. it should look at it just fine. (I could be totally wrong too, so beware). Unreal a quick restart, just to make sure everything is in order.. start anope back up and see how it goes.

You need to uline the name of the server...

So if it's set to 'services.mydomain.net' the uline should be 'services.mydomain.net'.

It was like this before, so i guess this is not problem...

This has nothing to do with domain actually ? i could make up it like bill.microsoft.com ?

So basically, services says that it's turning the nickname to guest, but it's not changing it?

Make it happen so it says your nick will be changed, but it doesn't change, then do:

/os set debug off

and paste the log file?

your GuestPrefix in the .conf seems to be set to Külaline - I'm not sure this is a valid nick, can you try something without extended characters in it?

(I think the ircd is rejecting it)

Yes , that was the problem, changed it back to guest and it works fine now.
