Chanserv wont join the channel at all, weather your in it or not. (without a 3rd party module that is)

what would i need to do that?

You know what i mean chanserv stays in channel like @chanserv and looks after the channel etc

ChanServ doesn't "look after the channel" while in the channel anymore that it does outside the channel. There is no functional advantage to ChanServ being in any channel at all. From a technical and functional standpoint .. it's completely pointless.

As Rob stated, this can't be done without a module. Try: http://anope.org/modules/

If you really want a bot to look after your channel try using BotServ.
