Mode +a when using protect in access list

Hello everyone, got a problem (or maybe a question in case i do not understand it right).

Anope 1.8x on latest release of Unreal.

I set the access level for some items to 9998, example : Protect, autoprotect, etc some more.

i added a test user to level 9998 with the access command. But that user is not able to mode #chan +/-  a nick will not work. I keep getting an error saying: Your not channel owner.
I even tried with /cs protect #chan nick but i get the same error.

Although the user is set to level 9998 and the PROTECT feature in levels is set to 9998.

What am i doing wrong?

Most IRCds do not allow users with +a to set others users +a, and limit setting of +a to channel owners. Giving users the PROTECT level in services allows them to /cs protect other users, but they can not use /mode because that is an IRCd command.

My bad, the /cs protect DOES work, i was trying to use /cs unprotect which it wouldnt let me.

Why is there no option in the levels desc to be able protect/deprotect users like opdeop?

That would be usefull when assigning channel masters.

What error does it give? Are you sure you're using protect and not deprotect? People can't deprotect others with the same access level.

Ok, so please excuse me for wasting your time. I didnt know that i can not deprotect someone who is on the same level.

It works like a charm now. The only thing left is to find a solution for the IRCd too, cause just adding +q doesnt solve it for /mode commands. But if services are up, the chanserv solution is just right.
