Title: Should a logged in Oper be able to override services?
Post by: Joe on December 14, 2014, 02:51:00 AM
I was wondering if an oper logged in to the IRC server, but not OperServ, should be able to override the services or must the services be used?

Thanks

Limited Depending on the IRCD.... Unrealircd for example on the oline carries a flag for Override

+v or can_override

depending on whether you use old or new flags. from the unreal docs....

OperOverride are things like: joining a +ikl channel and going through bans (you need to /invite yourself first however), op'ing yourself in a channel, etc.
The can_override operflag was added as an attempt to stop oper abuse. No oper is able to override by default, you would have to give them the can_override flag explicitly

Perhaps you can clarify what you mean by "override the services".
