I go to the sourceforge site and its hidden. Why do you hide a *stable* version so I can only download the rc!
Could I please get a link to anope-1.7.24.tar.gz.
Thanks,
Ben (thejetset)

1.7.24 version is same as 1.8 , just a few words in languages packs are changed. Source files are same

and 1.7.24 is by no means a stable release.. the entire 1.7 branch were a development releases..
the RC of a stable (1.8) branch is considered to be more stable then a development release.

I don't understand why you couldn't find Anope 1.6.5 as it's there, unhidden and always has been.
It's accessible via a link on our index page for the site, and via a search on SF itself.
Link here to our "stable" release branch on SF which contains both 1.8-RC1 and 1.6.5 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=94081&package_id=99987)
As others have said, the whole 1.7.x branch was development.
