Flood protection
« on: July 10, 2014, 07:20:06 PM »

Hello everyone, I wanted to know if there are some modules for anope 2.0.* against the flood, such as m_connect_flood or os_regflood for anope 1.8.*. If there aren't, can I request them? Thanks.

m_connectflood is better suited for the IRCd because users don't connect to Anope, but to the IRCd, so Anope can only act as a reaction to that.

os_regflood could be done but I'm not aware of one existing currently.

It's a nice request because some people flood anope's database with /msg nickserv register <password> <email> using some bots... I had this problem on my network and if you set the limit on emails for accounts they'll bypass it using another email address :/

In 1.8 there was the ability to throttle registrations by 1. Setting how long a nick must be connected before issuing the registration command and 2. Limiting how often the registration command can be used. Set #1 to 30 minutes, set #2 to 24 hours. If users complain about having to wait so long, they likely aren't that interested in the long term anyway .. just sayin

If this isn't in 2.0, it should be.
