Error while running anope.exe
«
on:
August 13, 2006, 07:53:43 PM »
Hello ... i get an error while attempting to run anope.exe ... heres what it says:
C:\Program Files\Anope\Anope.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Im guessing this may be an error i made while editing the anope conf file?
please help if you can

No, I'd say its something else as normally if theres an error in the conf it would tell you what the error was. Can you confirm what version of the .NET Framework you have installed and what version of windows you are using.

Do you have the Windows .NET Framework installed?

Hmm... According to some sites, thats to do with manifest file issues.
Negating everything for a second, are you using 1.7.15? (If not, try it ...)
Also, if you want to know about .NET framework, look in control panel, add/remove programs.

You'll probably want the VS2005 Runtime files from
here
too.

Read the post near the top of this forum? "[NOTE] Anope 1.7.18 on Windows" - there's also no need to post in 2 topics with the same issue.

Hello,
i've read this thread and "[NOTE] Anope 1.7.18 on Windows" but it doen't work.
We've got Windows 2003 Server, .NET 1.1 Framework.
VS2005 Runtime files from
here
doesn't work, it apears a failure message like this:
Error 1723: A needed DLL file to complete setup cold not be loaded/wasn't found!
But there is no filename prompted.
Do you have any idea to get it work?

ok I'm going to see if I can get this duplicated. Thus far 2 people have said that the "workaround" didn't fix their issue.
tucow,
In the mean time I'd like you to try something for me please. Download and instal lthis installer:
http://ircd.shellnode.org/~katsklaw/anope-win32/Anope-1.7.18+top10.exe
It is an un-official build of unaltered code .. so it works exactly like the Offical codebase, just compiled by me and not by the the team as a whole. It also has the top 10 most popular modules that comes with it. I want you to tell me if it works or not. The difference between this build and the official one is the runtimes it's compiled against.

oh, you didn't saw my edited post above, it doesn't work.. it prompted the same error.
just installed win2k3 sp1 but there's no change.
edit: okay now it works (don't know why), but it won't be linked -.-
it prompted: *** LocOps -- Link denied for services.2qIRCnet.org(
unknown@127.0.0.1
) (No link block named 'services.2qIRCnet.org') [@127.0.0.1.1670]
there is a link block, password etc. are correct.

Ok, I have installed a
legal, activated and registered
copy of Windows Server 2003 R2 and have verified that Anope does indeed run correctly.
1> install the runtimes found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=32bc1bee-a3f9-4c13-9c99-220b62a191ee&DisplayLang=en
2> Update the manifest file found at:
http://forum.anope.org/viewthread.php?tid=1178
3> Correctly configure Anope and your IRCd.
4> Double click the Anope icon on your desktop.
Note: If you are not using an legal copy of any supported Windows OS, Anope may not work because some of the required files may not be installed.
