how do you designate a "host setter" that's not an oper?

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make a non-oper into a vhost setter who can set hosts for other users via HostServ? The anope documentation refers to "host setters" as if they don't have to be IRCops. If this is in fact possible, how can an admin make a normal user into such a "host setter"? I couldn't find anything in the documentation about it.

I suggest you have a look at this in the services.conf file:

# HostSetters <nicks>  [DISCOURAGED]
#    Specifies the nicks of NON-OPERS allowed to Set/Remove vHosts using
#    HostServ.  Can be re-loaded with /msg operserv reload
#    You can specify more than one nick by separating each one by a space.
#
#    Make sure you insert the correct nick(s) here..

#HostSetters "rob dengel certus"


All you have to do is remove the # in front of HostSetters and place the nicks of users allowed to be host setters in the list.

Hey thanks.  But ya know, I did set the user's nick at that directive when I initially configured services.conf. I'd kind of forgotten about it being there, I guess because I couldn't get it to work for some reason. I just went back and looked and his nick is still there. I'd put it there in quotes over a month ago and services has been reloaded and restarted several times since then but he can't set vhosts unless he has a global oper o:line and I make him a services oper as well. I'm not sure what's going on. I guess we'll just have to play with it some more.
