Explanation of NSEmailReg
« on: September 18, 2007, 11:51:28 AM »

I've been trying to figure out exactly how the email requirement works. I've got it working on my network, if anything, I'm just curious.

I read that PreNickDB should hold nicknames that are "awaiting confirmation". However, that file is always empty for me. I'm basically wondering where Anope stores the nicknames that are not yet active, and if there is a way an oper can retrieve the activation codes, or force an activation.

To force an activation is quite simple really:
/msg NickServ confirm NICK

in addition to that, the command to get an activation code from a pre-regged nick is same with the getpass command i.e. /msg NickServ getpass nick

Ok, so I have to ask now... just out of curiosity...

Would /msg nickserv setpass NICK
(or as I believe it is now, /msg nickserv saset Nick password)
update the confirmation key for a user who is not yet confirmed?

it is not possible to change/update the confirmation code for the user because the user nickname is not yet confirmed. you will receive a notice from nickserv stating that the 'user' nickname is not registered.
