1.7.21 bs_fantasy_ext help plz
« on: April 28, 2008, 10:49:48 AM »

So I was thinking about adding BS Fantasy Ext into my services...

It allows the !sop !aop !kill etc...

I'm running anope 1.7.21

The file link is HERE!!!

How would i install it? I was told install the full folder into src/modules and go to the main anope.1.7.21 folder then do make modules then make install.

That doesn't seem to add it, so i tried installing just the files into src/modules and doing make modules then make install...

That one just says an error about my make command not working with it like makeinstall.c or whatever is screwed up!

Figured the best way to learn is to ask.

i am guessing you are using *nix...

best way to learn is to read the documentation (README and INSTALL). those are written  so you can learn without having to ask...

Quote
Linux Installation Instructions :
-----------------------------------

 - wget the latest version of bs_fantasy_ext (link on Anope forums) to the anope-1.7.x/src/modules directory
 - extract it with 'tar -zxvf bs_fantasy_ext-1.x.y.tar.gz'
 - If required, change compile time settings in config.h
 - cd to main anope source directory
 - run 'make modules'
 - run 'make install'
 - copy/paste configuration directives below to services.conf (at the bottom there s a section for modules' configuration directives)
 - possibly add the module to the ModuleDelayedAutoload directive
 -- load module with /os modload bs_fantasy_ext

and as you already have pasted all the files directly into src/modules you will probably have to reinstall anope...
by copying them directly in that folder you have overwritten some of anopes files which  with files from bs_fantasy_ext (some have the same name).. and it happens those files are needed to compile the module :p

I've already reinstalled it and it's all sitting in the src/modules/bs_fantasy_ext folder right now.

When i type /os modload bs_fantasy_ext i get this message...

(>>>9:20 am) (.:Global) OperServ: Tow_Mater: modload bs_fantasy_ext
(>>>9:20 am) (.:Global) Trying to load module [bs_fantasy_ext]
(>>>9:20 am) (.:Global) Module loading status: 4 (Module Error, File does not exist)
(>>>9:20 am) [From OperServ] Unable to load module bs_fantasy_ext (Notice)

Yes i'm running on *nix.

Unreal 3.2.7 with anope 1.7.21 services.

Yeah it made everything correctly

This is what i did

uploaded the tar.gz file to anope1-7-21/src/modules
tar -zxvf the file.tar.gz
cd anope-1.7.21
make modules
make install
IN IRC /os reload
even tried /os restart

says it doesn't exist.

Hopefully you guys won't mind me trying to post in here as well, since we're basically almost having the exact same issue.

Make and make install ran just fine. The debugger showed that too.

Same issue, at least, in regards to getting the module to run.

Only... as far as I read back in the log with -nodebug -nofork, I get this...

Actually, it's probably better to attach it so you can see the entirety of the log.

Certainly took me a while to figure out how to do this. xD

I'm not sure if I have to reinstall Anope.

And if so, just exactly how would I reinstal Anope? :@

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 with Unreal3.2.7 and Anope1.7.21

If necessary I'll add whatever else you guys need to see what's going on.

Services is down and I have no idea why it won't do the specific errors, which is ns_sendpass and cs_sendpass.

I have no idea why it unloaded.

Help, please? :@

ok seems i missed the previous reply...

KDawg08, in your case (if you still have the issue), check that bs_fantasy_ext.so is present in services/modules/
if not, something goes wrong. then make the output of "make modules" and "make install".. i m guessing something must be going wrong there then.

Keiro, the last few modloads in that logfile shows bs_fantasy_ext loading normally
as for ns_sendpass and cs_sendpass they autounload if they are not needed (in this case they are probably unloading because those commands don't work with en encrypted database).
your real issue has nothing todo with this module...

[Jul 19 12:05:19 2008] Read error from server: No such file or directory (error num: 2)
anope simply can't link to the ircd.. there s something wrong with your configuration. (ircd/services)
make sure your ircd is listening on the IP anope connects to (prolly true, since it s 6667), and make sure the port is not set as clientsonly. Then check linkblock passwords.. and you have to specify one! passwords are not optional.

I don't remember exactly what I did to get it to work successfully.

But I remember removing the ns_sendpass and cs_sendpass from the module list to be loaded.

THen I did something else and it loaded successfully.

The IRCD and Anope is linked together. In fact, the commands work now after doing what I'd done.

Which is interesting in and of itself since I have the Services set to enc_none and I can only guess by what you say that Anope does something else with the configs since I'm not using MySQL.

But in any case, it works now, so it's pretty much a moot problem.

At least now I know what to do. =D

I'm doing pretty good at working on the IRCD and Anope with little to no hints as to how to do it. =D
