Hi there!
Recently visited the irc-channel (#anope) and got told that it may be a good thing to post my problem here, so here we go!
My setup: FreeBSD 7.0 With UnrealIRCd thats up&running.
Just the other day i installed Anope 1.8 thru ports in BSD. **solved**
After the install i I tried to start it like from/with: /usr/local/libexec/anope $ ./services
But nothing happends, no output in terminal at all so i tried with the params: -nofork and -debug, but still no output at all, no new processes and nothing in errorlog.
With some help from the irc-folks (thx: dz and DukePyrolator) i tried to gdb "gdb ./services" and then: run -nofork -debug.
The result became an errormessage like: (no debugging symbols found)... Program exited with code 0377. Log: http://pastebin.com/m59817034
I hope maybe theres anyone out there that can help me solve this issue? If i missed anything or something is unclear dont hesitate to ask!
A big thanks in advice!

Hi there,
I'd suggest retrying without using ports; literally just download the tarball and install from that to see if it works.
-
The install through ports isn't made/maintained/support by us..
Like chaz said, I'd suggest you install manually from source or contact whoever is the maintainer of the anope ports installation..
-
I installed it straight from source, and now i works like a charm! ;D
Maybe it should be an idea to contact the author/packer: adox
to prevent more people to get this kind of problems? I e-mailed him myself.

Thank you very much to everyone that helped out!

I've not heard of this maintainer which isn't necessarily a bad thing but we can't vouch for the work he's done certainly as we've not been in contact with him.
