modes on identify user
« on: February 16, 2009, 10:02:27 PM »

I think there would be a good idea to write module which give modes on identify users which irc-opers have appointed.

Example:
/ns set modonidentify nick +oq-xp
...
-NickServ- Password accepted - you are now recognized.
* NickServ sets mode: +oq-xp

I think it's even a better idea to use the perform in mIRC or write an ON *:connect script :)

I'd agree, it seems like the kind of thing an ircd should be doing really..

No-no. You have not understood me!

I had I would shall enter that fashions were put on usual users, which cannot put itself them.

Let's admit it too most as /os umode nick +mod, but only at identification nick.
And "on connect" is mirc a script if at you on "q" - that you in any way it will not put the rights.

sorry for my bad english ;)

I don't think it is necessary to be in the core as well as I'm not sure if it's ever going to be used. Modes which are meant to be for only IRC operators should also only be available for IRC Operator (9,9 out of the 10 cases). I'm sure there's a good reason for why they're made for opers-only.

This functionality can be provided through /os oline and I agree it's not the kind of thing that should be applied at nick level.

We're looking into more granular control of access within Anope which may help you achieve what you're looking for.

For now, I'd hold off and wait until further information becomes available.

/os oline - is only for session.

I shall give an example use of data a fashion.

Let's admit some users would want that they saw when them /whois, but it not so is important.
In my network it is very important to watch order of users. I would like to appoint so to say "moderators" irc networks. With the rights on gline.

I would write the given module if though understood scripts a little :)

Other server.

And to the server I not always have access because of dynamic ip. And services cost at my place, on it it would be easier to me to work through services, instead of through a server.

Nope, still don't see the point myself.

Back when we all had dialup and dynamic IP's we just got clever with olines and they worked just fine.

Using Services may be of benefit to you but for the greater people I can't see it. A module might be an approach for you to consider.

For the some people it is possible will be not necessary, but the some it is possible and to be necessary.

If this is Unreal (99% chance it is). Just add them an oper block and specify what modes they get when they oper and only give them the can_gkline and can_setq oper flags.

IRCd's should always have static IP's, period. It's also a personal pet peeve of mine when users expect coders to make up for their shortcomings. So all I have to say is get a static IP like you're supposed to.

You should always strive to do it correctly, or not at all.

I think this should go in a (3rd party) module.. I don't think something like this is important enough nor useful to most people to be considered a core feature. Most people can do what they want with perform or with olines giving modes.
