UnrealIRCd problem...
« on: February 09, 2006, 12:28:03 AM »

<--- noob at anope services...

well, i'm using unreal ircd 3.2.4.22... set up the config files, and then set up anope... i try to boot it up from the command prompt, nothing happens. I wonder what happened, and then look at the Anope services logs....

[Feb 08 19:10:58 2006] Loading IRCD Protocol Module: [unreal32]
[Feb 08 19:10:58 2006] The specified module could not be found.
[Feb 08 19:10:58 2006] status: [6]

Frowned at that, so in the anope config files, I changed IRCDModule "unreal32" to IRCDModule "unreal32.dll," and this is what I got...

[Feb 08 19:11:38 2006] Loading IRCD Protocol Module: [unreal32.dll]
[Feb 08 19:11:38 2006] status: [4]

Any idea what to do?

I'm very sorry if i'm beoing so hard, but, what does "re ./config" mean? is it a line that's suppose to be run in the command prompt, or re configure everything? >.<

Trystan - I ran and installed the Win32 version... I take off .dll off of the module... I get this:

[Feb 08 21:25:37 2006] Loading IRCD Protocol Module: [unreal32]
[Feb 08 21:25:37 2006] The specified module could not be found.
[Feb 08 21:25:37 2006] status: [6]

...it is there, though =( I feel like my services are rebelling against me.

This has been seen before, and i think it was something to do with using the msvc7.dll (i cant remember the exact name) for windows advanced server 2003, or was it something to do with which version of the .NET framework you get?

The old forums should probably shead some light on this.

I've ran into this problem before on the Win32 version (i no longer use that now :)). It was hard to isolate what was causing the problem. I remember having all of the windows updates, including software and critical updates, and anope would still work. Though, with the more recent updates, Anope will no longer work on a clean Windows XP that's fully updated with no other software.

Rather troubling... lol :(

You might also want to check if you've got .NET Framework installed, version 1.1 and higher will work fine

I've the same trouble. .NET FrWrk is installed, all packages from list too.

I think that status [4] means: "not found file of module" beacause if I rename Unreal32.dll to any other name I have it. But when I rename it back I have status [6] "The sp. module can't be found". I don't know what is this...

There is no problem with the windows builds, as they are tested on various releases of the ms os before we release them to the public. I would suggest you list ALL of the software installed on your pc (or link to a screenshot of the Add/Remove programs window).

The module not found error (assuming the module really is there) is related to the .net framework and which version of it you are running...

You should be able to register the Unreal32.dll manually through dos. From the way i readit the system is not rconizing the Unreal32.dll. Im not certain of the dos command since i dont use windows but i have seen that done before.

Um, you don't need to "register" the IRCd Protocol modules via the regsvr32 command (which is what I assume you're refering to) as there is nothing to register with Windows.

The problem is the IRCd module (along with the others) are linked to a specific library, which is not present on the system. When Anope is compiled against the VC8 libraries on the next release, users should simply be able to download the Visual C++ 8 runtimes, and it'll all work (with any luck).
