Issues saving database(SOLVED)
« on: January 31, 2014, 02:19:31 AM »

Hey guys, I'm running Arch Linux and installed anope-devel 2.0.0_rc1-1, and UnrealIRCD

My only issue is that anything i do with chanserv or nickserv does not save.

Heres the order of what i do:
Quote
/msg nickerv register password myemail@live.com
/oper mynick password
*Successful*
/msg operserv login password
*Successful*
/msg operserv update
*Successful*
/msg operserv shutdown
*Shutsdown*
Now I've tried running update before shutdown, and I've also just tried shutdown as its supposed to save, and neither my nick or registering my channel works after i reboot my laptop. Nothing saves.

/etc/anope
and
/etc/unrealircd

Originally those two folders were owned by their own users (unreal:unreal for unrealircd, and anope:anope, for anope) Then i made both of them owned by unreal, and then both owned by anope, and now i have it set to mynick:wheel

The command i use to change the ownership is:
sudo chown -R /etc/anope
sudo chown -R /etc/unrealircd

Current permissions (using ls -alth /name/of/directory)
Code: [Select]
/etc/anope:

Now I'm not the greatest with permissions and don't understand what the permissions should be set at. Does anyone see any errors? Or is anyone having the same issues?

I understand that it being anope-devel that could cause a complication, however its the best way to get a working installation as the official repo is corrupt and refuses to install, and installing from source is something i attempt to avoid like the plague (Too messy for my liking), If needed ill attempt to make my own package out of the source code but i don't have time for that right now, so i want to see if i can just get things working with my current install as this seems like a permissions error in my opinion.

Thanks for all help :D

UPDATE: Issue is that the install package in the AUR was wrong, something was making it over right itself everytime I start up, so instead I installed from source and selected "no" for the MySQL modules question and it finally installed correctly. Didn't find a fix for the issue with the AUR package though, if anyone else is having issues with that just make the package yourself or install from source. Im planning on eventually making a package myself that I will keep up to date, waiting for my schedule to clear up first.

Do you actually have db_flatfile loaded? It should save an anope.db in the data/ directory. You can try running services with --support and pastebin the logs.
