Delete self from access lists
« on: August 01, 2009, 07:06:46 AM »

I've seen this in other places, Thought it would be a good addition.  Where you can delete yourself from a Channels access list. Such as if you were vop of access level 3 you could delete yourself form that channels access list, also a feature that would go along with this is the ability to set a setting for your nickname where you must authorize someone to add you to a channels access list.  such as /ns auth   you can approve deny list or view authorization requests, this feature is only on if you dont have it set to restrict who adds you to a channel.

That's a fairly rubbish module anyway - you'd have to change that setting every time someone wanted to give you access. It should really either let you set it per channel, or just let you use some deleteme command to remove your own access from any channel.

You say that like it happens several times a day. I mean seriously, /ns set noop off (get added) /ns set noop on. Takes like 10 seconds, wow.

I've been on networks that has this feature for 10+ years and it's hardly rubbish, especially on networks where opers get added to xop lists simply because they are opers. It happened to me on dozens of channels. I was VERY happy to see this feature invented. This is FAR better than manually having to remove yourself in channels you don't want access to.

What if you've been added to lots of channels before you've found out about this NOOP feature?

Well, I never commented on the need for the ability to remove ones self for xop lists other than comparing it to ns noop. I will now though. I do believe that a user should be able to remove themselves and  I believe it should be a core feature. Although being a core feature or not makes little difference to me. I don't see much difference in whether a module ships with Anope or I download it and load it separately as long as it works well.

My original reply only pointed to the second part of the original request which was satisfied with that module. "also a feature that would go along with this is the ability to set a setting for your nickname where you must authorize someone to add you to a channels access list"

Yea The MAIN part im wanting/liking  is the the ability to have to authorize your nickname being added to a channel,  and the other features just fall in along with that deleteing yourself from the access list...  so maybe i improperly named this topic >.>

I was about to request something like this... the ability to downgrade yourself, set a maximum level you want in a channel, remove yourself entirely from a channels access list and even something like level -2 for a channel acceslist so you can not be added to the accesslist of the specific channel (even if the owner would want you to).

Would be very usefull for channels you don't want to be associated with...
(for example someone trying to frame you for something like adding you to the accesslist of #VeryIllegalChildPorn4All or for the less paranoid people around... if you have a lot of access (and therefore responsibility) and want to reduce this)
