Unreal3.2.7 and Anope-devel 1.7.21
« on: January 25, 2008, 02:28:21 PM »

Hi! I'm running Windows XP, SP3 RC.

Anyways, I managed to get my Linked server's conf file reconfigured to Hub.

Now, what I need is help with Anope linking and such.

I followed the tutorial as much as I could.

I'm going to upload the unrealircd.conf and hopefully one of you guys can see the error, since I cannot get the darn things to link together correctly...and just now I somehow killed my IRCD. x_x

Many thanks for any helps!

And for security purposes, I will be changing those...um, keys and such after I get the services working correctly. :D Can't be too careful these days.

Edit: Oops, somehow left out the attachment.

an log of the error when try linking would be usefull... anyways, can't see the error in the unreal config untill we can compare to the services config

but
Quote

/* Note: You should not use autoconnect when linking services */
         autoconnect;

should be quite obvious..

Oops. -Blush.- Um...I should've seen that.

Hehehehe...ummm, yeah.

I'll fix that right away. Sorry!

Er, services config...I'm not sure where that is yet, I've looked around for it.

So I'll remove auto-connect then, and hopefully I'll get it to link.

Edit: IRC Server's up. Though...this is what I get from the client:

-
[06:59:24] * Keiro sets mode: +iwx
-
[06:59:24] Local host: 127.0.0.1 (Not the actual host, since the actual host has my IP.)
-
#The_RP_Realm @Keiro
#The_RP_Realm End of /NAMES list.
-
[06:59:25] 0200,01[4¤ 00Stats of #The_RP_Realm: CFs: 0 :: Ops: 1 :: Half-Ops: 0 :: Voices: 0 :: Normal Users: 0 :: Total: 1 4¤00]
Services are currently down. Please try again later.

And I simply installed Anope as per its instructions. I looked just now in Anope's files and I see no services.conf and such.

o_o Okay, this is giving me a bit of a headache, and I'm thinking as I read over the Readme, FAQ and INSTALL once more...

Hmm. I may've screwed something up...which isn't too surprising, but at least the IRC Server's up...so that's good, at least.

Er, services config...I'm not sure where that is yet, I've looked around for it.

you can't even hope to link services if you haven't configured them yet....
and of couse you will get services is down, if you haven't even configured/started them...

from the documentation:

Now go into the data directory (by default, ~/services). Copy the example configuration file (example.conf) to services.conf, and open the latter with your favorite text editor.

I found it...

I'm going to attach that and see where I need to fix.

[Jan 25 07:58:27 2008] services.conf: IRCDModule missing
[Jan 25 07:58:27 2008] services.conf: ServicesRoot missing
[Jan 25 07:58:27 2008] services.conf: You must define the 'ServicesRoot' configuration directive
[Jan 25 07:58:27 2008] services.conf: in your services.conf file. This is a required setting that
[Jan 25 07:58:27 2008] services.conf: defines the main Administrative nick(s) Anope will obey.
[Jan 25 07:58:27 2008] services.conf: No ServicesRoot defined
[Jan 25 07:58:27 2008] Every UserKey must be different. It's for YOUR safety! Remember that!

Remember though, this is in Windows XP, not Linux...or it would've been a whole lot easier. >_> <_<

Okay, another round of editing...here we go!

Edit: I could've sworn I specified the module...

[Edited on 25-1-08 by Keiro]

Hmm. Okay, I edited the ServicesRoot thing...doesn't seem to still work right, I think.

And the IRCModule is still commenting that it's missing.

You didnt read the comments (which for reference are ignored by Anope)

They tell you why you get those errors (also a hint would be they say IRCDModule missing not #IRCDModule missing)

Then how would I fix that?

I've looked at it closely as I could and have yet to figure it out...yet. XD

I'll figure it out somehow, eventually I hope, though how would it be a hint?

And what's the difference between IRCDModule and #IRCDModule?

Edit: I guessed and removed # to make IRCDModule and that worked.

ServicesRoot is still giving me an issue though.

Edit2: I took a look at ServicesRoot again and realized that it needed to be uncommented too.

Success!

A new wrinkle now.

[08:41:00] -irc.shatteredtears.homelinux.net- *** Notice -- WARNING!!!! Link [72.38.2.144] does not have the same set::allowed-nickchars settings (or is a different UnrealIRCd version), this MAY cause display issues. Our charset: '', theirs: 'cat, dut, fre, ger, ita, spa, swe'
-
[08:41:00] -irc.shatteredtears.homelinux.net- *** LocOps -- Link denied for irc.digibase.ca(unknown@72.38.2.144) (No link block named 'irc.digibase.ca') [@72.38.2.144.44191]
-
[08:41:12] -irc.shatteredtears.homelinux.net- *** LocOps -- Link denied for services.shatteredtears.homelinux.net(unknown@127.0.0.1) (No link block named 'services.shatteredtears.homelinux.net') [@127.0.0.1.3260]

Edit: Wait a second...that one's for the unrealircd.conf isn't it?

Edit2: Fixed!

The issues have been fixed!

Thank you guys so much for the hints, and allowing me to work on it myself, with a bit of help! :D

I'm curious now...

Do I start a separate topic or do I keep it in this?

The reason why I'm asking is because I want to try and get commands such as:

!down for removing someone's op status
!up for giving someone op status.

Yep, you should start a new topic because that's done with a module, which is bs_fantasy_extended by Viper I believe...
