Anope will create and use the db files, you can't stop that .. Anope does not read and write to mysql in realtime. In fact there is very little that you can do with mysql in Anope at this time. It's actually best not to use it.

It stores anything that is stored in the *.db files. On our Website we are running the userdb depending on the Anope-MySQL-Databases. And Ihope in the next time there will be finished the misc_sqlcmd module, that we could communicate from website to the services, to realize user registrations per webinterface, sending memos etc. ;)

But before you try something near it, you should know that you need a very good server to manage the mysql-entries, which need many performance, because Anope's MySQL Support is a kind very bad at the moment. ;(

No it saves them ca. every 10 minutes, I don't know the exakt rate. Are you sure, you gave the conf file the right mysql settings?
