Title: Help?
Post by: ImmortalGhost on July 27, 2007, 04:29:40 AM
I installed Anope 1.7.19 and put it in my default directory; C:\Program Files\Anope...

If i run Anope.exe; a command promt flashes real fast, and it says 'Can't open services.conf: No such fle or directory'

Where do i get services.conf, where do i put it?
Do i just edit /data/example.conf and rename it to services.conf ... but then where do i put?

This is not true for Windows versions.

services.conf needs to be in the Anope\Data directory. make a copy of example.conf and name it services.conf, edit to suit. Then double click on the anope.exe icon in the Anope directory.

If your services doesn't connect, then check the logs in the Anope\Data|logs directory.

Good Luck.

Thos 2 snippets don't match. The top one says that your ircd is not listening to the port and IP you specified and the bottom shows Services has connected. So what is your question?
Title:

How do i get rid of the errors? They are connectign though :( ...
Title:
Post by: Jan Milants on July 27, 2007, 11:09:26 PM
these are the only errors i see..
Quote
[01:53:49 PM] -irc.Kicks.Ass.com- *** Notice -- Possible negative TS split at link services.localhost.net (1185558795 - 1185558829 = -34) [PLEASE SYNCYOUR CLOCKS!]

and to fix that you have to make sure that all servers in your network are synced to UTC. And if you are connecting to a local ircd, this usually happens (in combination with unrealircd at least) when the ircd syncs its time using its built-in tool (bad solution) while anope simply uses the systems' clock. so the end up using a different clock.
solution: sync you box's time to UTC with NTP.

[01:53:48 PM] -irc.Kicks.Ass.com- *** Notice -- WARNING: Remote doesnt have link::options::zip set. Compression disabled.

anope can't use compressed links, so no point in enabling it in your ircd's config

as for
Quote
[Jul 27 13:53:38 2007] debug: trying to load core module [ms_rsend]
[Jul 27 13:53:38 2007] debug: status: [6][Module Error, Error during load time or module returned MOD_STOP]

that s no error, that module simply unloads itself if it isn't needed..

Title:

You need to be patient.

1> you are not the only person we help
2> we have day jobs and other things that are more important in our lives than IRC
3> don't be so generic, offer logs as it's not really possible for what you claim to happen with operserv.

Anope is smart enough to only load the bots it knows your ircd supports .. for example you won't get HostServ if you use an ircd that doesn't support hostmangling .. such as Bahamut.

I did offer you logs, theyre above, in quotes... alone with the quotes from global oper messages.

as I stated, they don't match .. the info given conflicts with the other .. one snippet says that services is not connected .. the other says it is.

Also there is proof in the second snippet that shows that HostServ and OperServ are indeed loaded.

Well then why do i get Services are not online for both of them, when i sue /os help or /hs help... or any other command with them, but the other services are on... but when i do /operserv or /hostserv there is no response... and the quotes came form the exact same timeline... Thats why i need help...

and the anope promt, still flashes by... can you atleats tell me how to fix the log form anope, and maybe it will fix everyhting in all?

if /msg operserv help works, there is nothing wrong with Anope, but your IRCd aliases.

That paste doesn't contain any vital errors either. ms_rsend failing to load will not stop Anope from starting. Run in debug mode again, this time paste the entire log.

It's better to give us far more information that we need than to continue this back and forth and not really get anything done. we've been talking for 4 days have haven't accomplished a single thing.

How do you run in debug? [Remember, I can't open up anope.exe properly, it just disappears]

Start > Run > type cmd > cd to anope installation folder
type anope.exe -debug

ImmortalGhost , it *is* incomplete, but as Jobe said I wasn't accusing you of anything. I know enough about Anope to know when information is missing from a debug log when Anope fails to start.

What's missing is unloading of modules AFTER an error is emitted. as well as the error it's self. Which *will* be logged in debug mode. What you pasted shows Anope starting 3 times but never stopping and there are no errors. There are a few warnings about some modules that couldn't load, but none of them will stop Anope from connecting.

Please explain why you think it's not.

1) Because it doesnt connect to my server...
2) Because I read the readme or soemthign that says when u run Anope.exe it will ask questions or soemthing? and i cant even get anope.exe to stay open, it flashes so fast...

Thats why, as i've explained, numerous times...

The fact it says 'backtrace not available' would assume it's segfaulted somewhere. Unload all 3rd party modules and try again.

If it still fails to work, grab a copy of your config file and then uninstall and re-install Anope.

And as it has been explained to you already, open a cmd box first, that will insure the cmd promt doesn't close on you.. Follow the instructions given by n00bie.

"Start > Run > type cmd > cd to anope installation folder
type anope.exe -debug"

As for #2, Anope will *not* ask you any questions when you start it, it only asks questions when it is compiled.

There is no need what so ever to speak like that.

Please bear in mind all those who assist and support Anope IRC Services are volunteers, meaning they dont get ANY reward for their support, not to mention they give up their FREE time to help users such as yourself.

The logs you provided to us indicate that either Anope IS running and connected or crashed before it could log any more information.

You've said on more then one occasion that some of the service bots arnt connected, could you tell us what commands you are typing to find that out please? Also can you check /who, and "/whois <botnick>" for each of the bot's you think arnt connected. The reason I suggest /whois is because if youre trying commands like /operserv, /hostserv, etc... then if your IRCd isnt set up correctly they wont always work, where as /whois will always give valid results just as /msg <botnick> is more reliable then /<botnick>

So could you please provide us with details of how you're checking that Anope isn't connected.

Okay, this has been dragged to far. If you need further help, feel free to either PM me via the forums or mail heinz@anope.org and i'll go through things with you.

I'm locking this thread as well.
