NickServ and mode nick +x?
« on: August 23, 2006, 10:18:38 AM »

I was wondering how i can check if an users is identified by nickserv, if is the user is, he/she can set mode nick +x and his/her hostname will change to: Nick.users.network

is this allready possible, or do i have to enable it?

Im running at windows, anope devel, unrealircd the newest.

Thanks, Multiply.

If you have HostServ loaded then you can use that.

hmm, i meant rather than a standard, when a user does //mode $me +x (in mirc for example), it should tell them that they shall nickserv identify, before they may use +x. and if they are nickserv identified, they hostname should be changed to: <nickservnick>.users.mynetwork

You must go into your unrealircd config.file and set it there the way you like it. Mode +x is only for hiddenhost, but you can chose whether your members should be able to set it on or off.

In most cases (my own experiense) each network use +x to protect their members from showing IP.

with unrealircd there is already a default cloaking. It helps to keep IP's from users hidden.

But, i do not want users to be able to do +x, unless they are nick identified

that is not by default provided in unrealircd, so you will have to ask them if there is a way, or if a module that would do something like that exists for unrealircd... this is completely unrelated to anope though... the ircd has to check whether a user is allowed to set +x, what you want is that it s only allowed if the user has +r also since +r is given upon identifying, but the check has to be handled by the ircd.

Well, then set +x off in your unrealircd.conf,  the way so non registered users can use it. I don't know of any other way to explain.

Viper I meant that Unreal by default masks hosts. [08:14] *** SpaceDoG [SpaceDoG@HM-E266DF55.dhcp.stls.mo.charter.com]: SpaceDoG As you can clearly see HM-E266DF55.dhcp.stls.mo.charter.com is a host mask. You can't ping that address as it doesn't exist. The only way to remove that is by removing the mode that sets it when you connect.

i restricted the +x mode allso -x... but how can i enable it by the bot?

So when you do: /msg nickserv mode +x you will get +x or such
