OperServ Issues

Permission Denied- You do not have the correct IRC operator privileges
-OperServ-  * ROOT  Ryu
-OperServ-  * ADMN  Ryu

any ideas why this is happening?

The only way Anope controls an IRCd command such as SAJOIN is by removing the user mode that grants the permission to use the command to you.

Read example.conf carefully looking for an option that causes Anope to remove user mode +a.

if you like i could pm you the config - as i can not find anything that removes the +a

also if you try to revert to an earlier version of anope after running 1.7.23b your nick.db tends to get corrupted as well

You didn't read it very carefully then:
Quote
# UnRestrictSAdmin [OPTIONAL]
#     On many ircd Anope removes the umode of +a from users whom are not
#     Service Admin in Anope. This mode is NOT used by Anope for any form
#     of access. Thus this option allows them to keep the mode without having
#     to be a Service Admin in Anope
#UnRestrictSAdmin

as clearly stated in the release notes the database format of nick.db used by .23 is incompatible with that of earlier versions..

Yes but as stated above there IS a setting in Anope that can disable it :)

To be clear, Anope can not "disable" any ircd command, it can only react by removing usermodes that the ircd requires to perform the command and can only do so while Anope is connected to the network. The example here is /sa* requires umode +a which Anope can be configured to remove from non-services admins thus preventing the usage of those commands for those users. However, the commands are still very much enabled. Think of it as having a room full of people with a new car in the driveway. While those that do not have the key may not drive it, the car is still very much drivable by those that do. So not having the key doesn't disable the car, just a persons ability to use it.

Additionally, there is no need for Ryu to be listed as an admin and root.

-OperServ-  * ROOT  Ryu
-OperServ-  * ADMN  Ryu

This causes Ryu to receive double the notices, memos and other weird things. Ryu should be removed from the services admin list since root is of higher access.

I also have some issue.
I've merged two bases from two servers.

In first base, nick is admin, and on other same nick was root.
After merge, I have 2 same nicks in ADMN section, both of them.

When I remote I nick, other nick is still there.
Only way to drop it or.. ?

The only way I found to fix your issue involved dumping the DB's to MySQL, shutting down Anope, deleting the .db files, uncomment UseRDB (to load data from MySQL) then using /os update to ensure Anope writes back to the .db files again, then shutting down Anope and disabling MySQL again.

Could be related to one or both sets of db's not being handled correctly during the install of .24 ?

I would say its a bug in the db-merger. I myself have experienced it too, where if you have a nick on both sides, in the OperServ admin list, and then the DB's are merged, the nick that was in the admin list on both sides appears twice. And I can replicate it every time.

I suppose I should have reported at the time, but I'm never too sure about the DB merger anyway :/
