Title: Hide Operator/admin/root status
Post by: seraphim on June 22, 2007, 09:38:53 PM
It would be good if i´ve got uMode +H on unrealircd to hide the services operator/admin/root status at privmsg nickserv info nick too. So an IRC operator could be completely invisible for normal users.

/msg NickServ help set hide

Quote
-NickServ- Syntax: SET HIDE {EMAIL | STATUS | USERMASK | QUIT} {ON | OFF}
-NickServ-
-NickServ- Allows you to prevent certain pieces of information from
-NickServ- being displayed when someone does a NickServ INFO on your
-NickServ- nick.  You can hide your E-mail address (EMAIL), last seen
-NickServ- user@host mask (USERMASK), your services access status
-NickServ- (STATUS)
and  last quit message (QUIT).
-NickServ- The second parameter specifies whether the information should
-NickServ- be displayed (OFF) or hidden (ON).

This sounds ALOT like user mode +I :( for me. For me i wouldn't like to be on a network where their operators ...ect are hidden. Also services information about who's a 'Services Operator' and a 'Services Admin' can be removed from /ns info by not added them to the services oper and admin lists ...if you really do not want them to show up in /ns info.

Nothing at all like user mode +I......

User mode +I (the commonly known one) hides operators completly in that they can join a channel and NOBODY knows theyre there.

This feature mearly makes /msg NickServ info NICK appear as a regular user.

Not to mention, how many times do you see trouble occouring on a network where the troublesome users know an oper is present so behave until said oper is gone. Its one thing hiding what access you have, and another hiding completly. Not to mention as a regular user on ANY network, how do you know whether or not the network is using such features to hide the status of some of its staff members. Since regular users wont be able to see them because of how the feature works anyway....

So in this case, on the Unreal to Anope comparison this feature is the same as +H NOT +I
