Akicks & cs_mlogout
« on: June 29, 2007, 06:33:51 PM »

yes i do already know that akick exists how ever akick gets very annoying some times i was wondering if there was a way that you can "Upgrade" for example
when you in a channel and akick someone, sometimes they have dial-up and change there IP
is there a way to get /cs akick Channel edit number add Add second or even third mask
that way you dont have 2 bans with the same reason which is very annoying

also /cs akick Channel add [+expire] mask reason
you did it with akill why not akick?

alright time to get to the second part
/cs mlogout Channel
Mass logout:
If your the founder and some jerk went phyco and desided having the password isnt enough because some noob pissed him off so he akicks *!*@*
and your trying to get it back
if (S)he  is smart then most likly (s)he already gave the password out to some friends to help
if these "Friends" dont want to get caught they will id and idle as voices
so instead of flooding chanserv with cs logout and doing it on every nick or dropping the channel
simply change the password and type /cs mlogout Channel
then akick them for there crimes
obviously this should work like cs logout (only founder can use it)

1> akicks - Unlike akills, akicks are designed to be permanent, so an expiry would defeat the purpose. other wise the syntax is as you sugested: /cs akick #channel add mask reason. If you want the user temporarily removed, use a timed ban: /cs help tban or use the cs_tban_address module.

2> mlogout - Channel security rule #1, don't give out the channel password ... period. If you want some users to act like founders use a module: cs_autoowner. IMHO, Channel founders should not have access to the ability to make other users re-identify. Afterall, it's just a channel, identifying is a GLOBAL event and affects the user in ALL channels not just the one and Channel Founders just don't need that much power. Services Admins however already have the ability to /cs logout the entire channel.

3> Nothing stops the users from re-identifying and doing it all over again.

if they are still on the access list they can identify to their nick and gain whatever access they have. As stated in #2, don't EVER give your channel password out.

I think the idea was logging them out of being identified to the channel not the nick.

As in /msg ChanServ help identify
