Auth from MySQL db?
« on: August 09, 2011, 01:04:11 PM »

Hi!

First of all, I don't know if I'm in the right place, not into IRC business. (Well, not from admin side.)
So pls forgive me, if I'm asking impossilbe thing or in the wrong place.

I have a site where I would like to make an IRC-based chat. (accesible by web-client or IRC-client too.)
I would like if everybody have to identify himself with his name and password. (he can registrate, modify at my site.)

What do I need? Maybe Anope is my solution to this? :)
(If so, could you give me some sort of description/url to start?)

Thanks for your patience and for you replies. :)

Bye: MightyDuck :)

That would be possible with the ldap module that Anope supports so you have a single database for the IRC services and the webpage users. I don't know at which stage of the development is the ldap module though.

Another way would be with phpAnope that is in the mind of the Anope Developers, but its in a completely development stage for now. So I guess you'll have to wait for more info on the ldap module ;)

So, ATM Aope couldn't do it yet? :(

Any other choices outside of Anope?

1.9 features a live SQL module and an XMLRPC module, both of which can be used for this purpose.. note that 1.9 is a development branch and undergoing continuous changes.. being brand new, there s not much docs about it yet though...

Not sure about any other services packages.. I know epona started out with live SQL too in its new branch, but lara vanished again before releasing a stable 1.5 (she got to RC3).. but wrong place to ask tbh  ::)
