Title: forbid to reg special nicks?
Post by: netstat on December 29, 2006, 10:27:58 AM
hi there
is it possible to forbid the registration for special nicks like guest254 guest 109 etc...

the nicks should be useable, but it must be impossible to register the nicks.

greets

It's possible that your IRCd can deny the use of nicks using wildcards. Some ircds like unrealircd support this ability. There is also an older modules called ns_wildforbid that's written by Trystan. Perhaps google can help you find it. There is also a cs_wildforbid for forbiding wildcarded channels somewhere on the net too.

Of all the options, making the ircd perform this ability is best.

I think what he means is to forbid registering but still allow people to use the nick's. Which the IRCd cant easily do where as it would be easier for an option in Anope.

So i would suggest making this a module request.

There is no module that i know of but there might be somewhere. Id suggest you give http://modules.anope.org a try then a good search and if that fails request one in the modules section.

By default, all Guest nicknames cannot be registered anyway...

yes, but u dont understand what i have meant. the guest was an example.

i tell u for what i need this.. we have an webchat, where the peoples connect as "Gast???"  Some of these users registers this nick :(

thats why i'm searching for a possibility that the users can use the nick Gast??? but can't register it.

Change NSGuestNickPrefix to 'Gast' then, and the same functionality will apply...
