I currently have authentication setup though a preexisting forum software. When I use the m_mysql_authentication mod to disable registration it also seems to block the ability to group nick names.

I know that if I comment out the nick registration line in m_mysql_authentication then it will allow registrations again. Ideally I would like to allow people to group nicks, but only use the forum software database for registration.

If and how is this possible?

So to group a nick, would you need to own that username on the forums too?

The IRC server is directly tied to the website, so those using the forums would be using the IRC.

We have people connecting with multiple devices like myself and it would be good to group a secondary nick name to your main name, but not one that's registered on the forum.

What would happen if you did that and then someone registered that username on the forum?

Just use the two argument /ns id <account> <pass>?
