I get the same with the windows version. I believe but am not sure that Anope is trying to run itself from another location. What i mean is that the path Anope is trying to restart itself from isnt correct in the source.

so how do i change that (is it in the config) or do i just have to move the file (there in the C:\Program Files\anope\ECT.... do they have to be in C:\anope\ECT...?)

I have a feeling it's something to do with the current working directory. Just like getting Anope to run as a service under a specific user account.

Which e-mail address did you use to register on the bug tracker? I'll get chaz to take a look when he returns...

Edit I'd pm it instead of posting it, incase it gets spammed..

I've put into place a proposed fix. If you are experiencing this issue, and want to see if the proposed patch does indeed fix it, please test out the 'Anope 1.7.15-1142-bug_589_fix' file from: http://qa.anope.org/winbuilds.php

Before downloading the file, please read the notice at the top of the page.

Any feedback about the status of this issue with the fix is appriciated :)

well it works (sort of) the /operserv restart dosent work for me but the services have been active for 78 hours now (they used to stop after a DB back-up and never come back it was part of the original problem) so thanks hienz and i cant wait for version 1.7.15 to be released (non-BETA version) :D

1.7.15 was released on August 7th, 2006 (21 days ago) as a development release for both Unix based and Windows based OS's and it is not a beta. Perhaps you mean .16?

He's referring to 1.7.15.1142-bug_589_fix which is still technically 1.7.15, but revision 1142+patch rather than the release version.

I see .. I just didn't want any misinformation about the official status of v1.7.15 to be confused with anything. :)
