BotServ channel logging
« on: March 28, 2006, 02:19:32 PM »

Hi here.

Can you add a BotServ option to log Channels like a Mirc user into a chanlog directory with time rotation like yearly, monthly, weekly or daily for generating statistiques?

Like this ?
/msg BotServ SET #Channel LOG YEARLY
/msg BotServ SET #Channel LOG OFF

log format:
#channel.log -> no rotate
#channel.log.2005 -> yearly
#channel.log.200501 -> monthly
#channel.log.20050101 -> Daily

Etc..

If the channel's droped the files are erased

We actualy are using an eggdrop and will be more usable to add it into the services. Thanks by advance.

May be with a way for founder/successor to be able to retrieve those logs when needed for disputes,..??

Would be nice.

No more sensless arguments :)

and yes I use Eggdrop for this purpuse as well lol.

except now I have to add channels per request for transcripts and mail the logfiles :-(

Would be great to have chanowners fix up with this themselves

would be something for statsserv, not regular services....
try http://denora.nomadirc.net/ ... it s a statserv based on the anope core.. dunno if it has the logging ability though, but if it has to be done  by some network services, i d think statserv would be better suited for this...

hmm just thought of something.. if i m not mistaken there s a module for neostats called logbot... if it does what the name suggests, this might be what u need

Yes its a feature reqeust for anope, but no its not one that will likly ever be part of the anope.  If someone else wants to make a 3rd party module, then fine :)

Would be nice to have it in chanserv tho,.. so roomowners can choose if they want roomtranscripts or not ;)

as far a neostats go,.. wouldn't know how to combine that with Anope :)

Its pointless in chanserv, since chanserv cant join a channel, it cant see/log channel text.
