Title: Mailfunction
Post by: SNU on January 26, 2007, 05:46:01 PM
Hi.
I hope you all can assist me.
I want to "activate" the Mailfunction in Anope (to use email-registration, and send password per eMail etc.)
But the first is to configure my mailserver correctly and that seems not to be very easy.

So I need your help step-by step :D

First questions:
1.) Do I really need to configure "sendmail" or might I also use qmail or postfix? (It seems that qmail can be configured more easilym, If I can choose, I will use this)

2.) After deciding which mail-server I use and having it "configured" I want to test, if it works correctly without "temporarily" activating it in anope. So might someone give me the command anope uses to send the mail, so that I can test it within the shell? Its because I want to see the header of the mail(s). I had it activated on another machine where it was qiet difficult to setup sendmail (f*ckin plesk) and every mail from the machine anope was on did not come from "services@ircdomain.foo" but from "admin@serverhost.bigfoo" And thats very bad.

So now I'm trying to get Anope running on an Debian 3.1 machine using webmin to help me configuring severla things ^^

Thanks for your answers.

As for question 1, anything sendmail-compatible will do.
