do not add me to the OP List option
« on: September 01, 2006, 10:28:05 PM »

I second this request, I'd like to see it too .. it's rather useful, especially for user/opers that like to be asked to be a chanop rather than just made one.

When I was a DALnet oper I was added to dozens of channel unknowingly and having the ability to require my permission to be added to a channels access list was a Godsend.

Interesting doubt it would be in the core till the db can be changed.. but I think it would be interested as well in a module

what about having a second option to accept your OPs or to not accept them

and also the option to delete yourself off the OPs List

The way the system would work is you can't be added without your permission. You would have to toggle the option off to be added and then you toggle it back on. This action is your acceptance. If you don't wish to be added you simply say "no thank you" and leave it on.

As far as having your permission to be removed, that's not likely to happen. For example, If you turn out to be a bad ChanOp and I feel you need to be removed because you constantly harass the users or whatever. You will be removed and I shouldn't need your permission to "fire you" per se.

forget that about having a second option to accept your OPs or to not accept them --- I was thinking of AustNet and ConferenceRoom Server where there is the option to accept or to not accept and to always accept

silly me - you would just turn noop off to be added and noop on to not be added

AustNet and ConferenceRoom same thing to the noop - didn't realize that

the option to delete yourself - I was thinking of if you wish to leave the room or for whatever you can delete yourself without having to be deleted by someone -- ChanServ delme #room

and they can still take you off themselves with -- ChanServ AOP/SOP #room del -- ChanServ access #room del

Will this be coming into the core for 1.8 or 1.9?

When someone adds you to the OP List - to not add you.

ChanServ xOP #room add NICK
ChanServ access #room add NICK

1.7 will be renamed to 1.8 when we are finished, and there is a feature freeze in place. so it will be 1.9 at the earliest.

However, that's if it hits the core. It can be a module right now if someone is willing to write it.

This may be a little off topic, but not really....  I'd like a voting system where regular users can vote on topics.. like chanop removal...    say 5 votes more than votes against and bot does it, or atleast keeps score....

Actually it's completely off topic. That aside I do believe that too has already been suggested as VoteServ or something and no one has felt like writing it either.
