You're not a channel owner???
« on: August 22, 2006, 03:00:34 AM »

ok i don't know if this is the right place to ask, but i have an issue with an ircd install and services.

I joined the channel and proceeded with registering my nick and room as shown below

(14:48) (J) Bill (rewt@L2E-F9B5C8E5.fuse.net) joined #serv2 (2:48pm) hit F7 to ban
(»»»): names #serv2 @Bill
(14:49) (notice from): NickServ  Nickname Bill registered under your account: *rewt@*.fuse.net
(14:49) (notice from): NickServ  Your password is XXX - remember this for later use.
(14:49) (notice from): ChanServ  Channel #serv2 registered under your nickname: Bill
(14:49) (notice from): ChanServ  Your channel password is XXX - remember it for later use.
(14:49) (M) ChanServ sets mode : +nt in #serv2 (2:49pm)
(14:49) * ChanServ sets mode: +q Bill

then i typed the /hop command to part and rejoin the channel

(14:51) * Attempting to rejoin channel #serv2
(14:51) (P) Bill (rewt@L2E-F9B5C8E5.fuse.net) left #serv2 (2:51pm) hit F8 to ban
(14:51) (J) Bill (rewt@L2E-F9B5C8E5.fuse.net) joined #serv2 (2:51pm) hit F7 to ban
(»»»): names #serv2 @Bill
(14:51) (M) ChanServ sets mode : +nt in #serv2 (2:51pm)
(14:51) (T) ChanServ changed the topic in #serv2 to at (2:51pm)
(»»»): modes #serv2 +nt
(»»»): #serv2 created Mon Aug 21 14:51:50 2006
the only problem now is that i am +o in the channel, but not +q, and to make things worse when i identify to nickserv i get the following message
(14:52) (notice from): NickServ  You are already identified.
ok so my nick's regged, and i'm idented, so next i try to do the /mode command to set me +q and i get this message

#serv2 You're not a channel owner

so i think ok, let's try to register it gain and get this
(14:58) (notice from): ChanServ  Channel #serv2 is already registered!
 However if i do /cs info #serv2 i get
(14:58) (notice from): ChanServ  Information for channel #serv2:
(14:58) (notice from): ChanServ  Founder: Bill
(14:58) (notice from): ChanServ  Description: tech-services
(14:58) (notice from): ChanServ  Registered: Aug 21 13:49:33 2006 CDT
(14:58) (notice from): ChanServ  Last used: Aug 21 13:51:50 2006 CDT
(14:58) (notice from): ChanServ  For more verbose information, type /msg ChanServ INFO #serv2 ALL.
then i figure i'll sign off and back on
(14:59) * Disconnected
(14:59) * Attempting to rejoin channel #serv2
(14:59) (J) Bill (rewt@L2E-F9B5C8E5.fuse.net) joined #serv2 (2:59pm) hit F7 to ban
(14:59) (M) ChanServ sets mode : +nt in #serv2 (2:59pm)
(14:59) (T) ChanServ changed the topic in #serv2 to at (2:59pm)

so i'm totally stumped, i have the NSaccess option enabled in the services.conf file and it's the same as my 4 other servers, but this one's just being ghey.

Thanks in advance for any help.
 Bill

try /msg nickserv set autoop on

and taking a quick peek in Changes.conf when updating will stop things like this from happening :)

Hi Rob,
Pardon me for a moment while i wipe the egg off my face......

That was it... man I tell you, i've setup 50/60 IRCDs using anope's services, and never have had to do that... I guess my bugging you guys here about it is just a result of complacency, but i do appreciate the time you took to set me straight on it.

Just to let you, Chaz and the rest of the gang know, I work for a shell hosting company and i ALWAYS recommend Anope to our clients when i'm ask what services are best, and will continue to do so in the future.

 Thanks again
Bill

 Hi n00bie,
I won't say the name of the company that i work for in an open post, out of respect for the folks here at the Anope forums.. (IE. i'm not going to start spamming the company's name all over here)
However you can usually find me on efnet using the nickname of Sensai or Sensai[a] . and i can also be found on irc.i-chat.org using the nickname  Bill or ^Regulator with or without the [a] at the end of my name. A private message here on the forum works too.
 Thanks
 Bill
