Title: [20:52] -NickServ- Unknown command help. "/msg NickServ HELP" for help.
Post by: andrew1974 on February 23, 2008, 01:57:54 AM
hello all

I am in the process of upgrading from 1.6.5 to 1.7.21 i compiled the new ver to /anope2 and anope starts fine however when trying to use commands i get errors IE:
/ns help i get this responce
[20:52] -NickServ- Unknown command help.  "/msg NickServ HELP" for help.

Even when i try /msg NickServ HELP i get the same thing

i used my config from 1.6.5 and just added the required parts to the old conf.... any help would be great.

is there a easy way to upgrade from 1.6.5 to 1.7.21 with out losing the databases and so on?

i highly recommend starting with a fresh example.conf of 1.7.21 and instead coping over the parts that are still the same over from the old config...

and databases are the same, just keep the 1.6 db's and 1.7 should load them just fine

were services offline while you copied the .db's over?
also, check the logfiles of anope's startup (run in debug if needed: ./services -debug) for any error messages regarding the databases.

i took a look at the log and found this

[Feb 24 18:57:21 2008] trying to load [os_info]
[Feb 24 18:57:21 2008] os_info: Loading configuration directives...
[Feb 24 18:57:21 2008] os_info: OSInfoDBName is not defined in Services configuration file, using default os_info.db
[Feb 24 18:57:21 2008] os_info: Directive OSInfoDBName loaded (os_info.db)...

i moved the databases over before  ./services
