Hiding Anope from /LINKS
« on: February 27, 2007, 06:22:38 AM »

WE have a small IRC network that all the hub is hidden from user doing /LINKS. User can only see all client-server.
Is it possible to make Anope hidden from regular user that do /LINKS ?

regards,
trikom.

that s a, ircd question... has nothing to do with anope itself, the answer to /links comes from the ircd... you should ask your ircd devs.

If youre using Unreal there is already an option to do this anyway.

set::options::hide-ulines

yes, but some irc services like Sentinel had a hidden block, and I thought it would be great if Anope had one too..

No services package can hide itself from /links since which servers are displayed in /links are handled by the IRCd to which the user who issues the /links command is connected.

Meaning that unless the IRCd hides the server (which in this case Anope is technically a server) then it cant be hidden.

As stated in Sentenel's example configuration file:

# The hidden block defines servers that are to be hidden from non-opers
# querying the statistics service, the html dump, and in splitserv's
# channel reporting features.

Nothing about /links command, it's basiclly hiding servers from statistical collections.

What about in services.conf of anope:

# HideStatsO [OPTIONAL]
#
#    Setting this directive will make Services only show Stats o to
#    IRC Operators.

HideStatsO

Is it or not?

Thats the same as disabling /stats o for regular users in your IRCd so they cant see a list of olines.

In Anope's case it shows a list of staff.
