Has anyone here ever gone to a computer tech support store and if so what was their hourly rate? I'm kinda curious trying to figure out what the market is like. Has anyone used something like the geek squad if so what was their hourly rate?

It varies.. was in this type market back like 10 years ago, did the mom & pop store working for $8.50 an hour, average customer rate was per service ie.. motherboard install $25 bucks, video install $5.. custom work like get the virus out, or why does it blue screen was at a $10 an hour rate with 2 hours paid up front no matter how long it took.

When I was a service tech for best buy before geek squad was an invited.. again it was a by service thing, this was a bit more then your mom & pop stores, but on the same order, was making $12.50 then (yes I was manager of the department so was highest paid there)..

A local computer shop here in Utah EBC Computers posts there rates online http://www.ebccomputers.com/index.php?op=pub_tech  they are the largest mom & pop chain here in the valley, rates are about what I remember charging when working doing this full time back then.
