Ok, i installed services about a week ago, without using md5, now is it possible to convert the current db's un-protected passwords to passwords with md5, providing i've recompiled with md5.

no it's not possible other than deleting your databases and starting over. If you had read the warning during configuration you would know this already.

Actually (if i'm right), if you want to move from unencrypted to MD5, it will work just fine if you just recompile with MD5 support. Do keep in mind that this choice is irreversible, and that the 1.6 MD5 implementation is somewhat broken. There will be a new stable branch (1.
soon (i'd say 1-2 months) which offers fixed encryption. If you want to run stable and have decent encryption, I'd suggest you wait for that branch to be released.
