Chanserv LIST command Issues
« on: May 28, 2006, 02:35:23 PM »

Ok, I finally got my server running smoothly on Windows 2000 Professional SP4 with the latest versions of UnrealIRCd and Anope. I started registering channels for use by the public, however, I notice something very strange. When I do the /list command, it only shows the channels that I am on, not all the channels on the server. When I am not in any channel at all, the list is blank. I have check the configuration for Unreal and Anope, but no luck. The services are working properly since I can do all the other commands just fine.

I will post server logs if needed! Please help!

Master the /list command pulls up a listing of active channels on IRC /list has nothing to do with the services. Also /list will hide any channels that are secret (+s/+p). If there are no users in a channel on your server then nothing will show up.

I'll use my jedi powers and assume you are using mIRC. Try: /quote list

Note to SpaceDoG:

On Unrealircd, IRCops can see +s/+p channels :)

I seemed to have found the problem. Apparently, when I join a channel that is registered but I am the only one on it, Chanserv will set +nrt, which means that the channel hides itself when no one is on the server. Now, the local machine for the server has mIRC on it which has a user in every channel that I want people to see, which seems to correct the problem.

Master when using Unreal if there is no one in the channel it won't show up unless it's an official channel. IE you added the config for it in your unrealircd.conf.

Oh I also forgot to mention the modes +nrt. If a channel has +n it means no external messages. That means you have to be in the channel to send a message to it. +t means that only channel operators, people with @, and half-ops, people with %, can change the channel topic. +r means that the channel is registered (this mode is settable by a uline only). That means that you have services installed and monitoring the channel.

In addition none of these modes +tnr will hide the channel name from the channel /list.
