Ok, I'm clueless as to why this happened..
I registered a user with nickserv and rebooted server, now nickserv says nick isnt registered...
Ideas?
-
services didn't shut down properly ?
services couldn't write to database ?
try checking your services logs for more details...
-
all i see is
[Dec 31 18:48:49.315627 2006] debug: Sent: :NickServ NOTICE DTGorm :You are already identified.
[Dec 31 18:49:41.207977 2006] Services terminating: Interrupt
[Dec 31 18:49:41.208171 2006] debug: Sent: :services.dfwtimes.com SQUIT services.dfwtimes.com :Services terminating: Interrupt
[Dec 31 18:50:18 2006] Anope 1.6.5 (1197) (compiled for UnrealIRCd 3.1.1+) starting up
nothing about error writing to database... any other ideas?
-
how long was services running before this happened?
-
not very long, like maybe 5 or 10 minutes
-
You should check your ulines on all servers. They must all match exactly. For unreal3.2 it's:
ulines { services.dfwtimes.com; };
Not sure about unreal3.1, please note that all ulines are case sesitive and after they are fixed on all servers, services needs to be restarted so that it's status on the network can be updated to a ulined server.

What version of Anope are you running? Are you using MySQL? If so, did you enable UseRDB?

Anope-1.6.5 (1197) services.dfwtimes.com UnrealIRCd - -- build #1, compiled Dec 31 2006 16:43:07
Unreal3.2.6. irc.dfwtimes.com FhiXOoE [*=2309]
That's part of the problem. Unreal3.2.6 is not fully supported by Anope 1.6.5. You should upgrade to Anope-1.7.18.
-
aha... though i downloaded the latest anope :|
-
1.6.5 *is* the lastest Stable, but features in Unreal 3.2 came out after 1.6 became stable, whicl means that some things Unreal3.2 does won't work on 1.6.
-
ok thanks.. so far its working as far as basic services.... havent tried chanserv or any others.
-
moved to 1.6 support where it belongs.
-
I have a similar problem with Unreal3.2.6 e Anope 1.7.18 (without MySql) on Linux.
If I register a user or a channel with nickserv/chanserv, I have to wait 5-6 minutes before it's really registered. If I reboot unreal before this period, Nickserv/Chanserv says me that the nick/chan isn't registered. Have you any suggestion?
-
NEVER reboot unreal without issuing /os update ... infact .. if you have to reboot Services's uplink server .. shutdown services properly first. this is not a flaw with Anope, it's a flaw with the way you shutdown servers.
it takes 5 minutes by default because Anope writes data from cache to the db every 5 minutes.
