Nickserv gives strange messages sometimes.

Hi,

I tought I was on a Dutch anope forum but when I got here its English. Well, I try  :) I'm using:

Unreal 3.2
Anope 1.8.4

Some times (so its not happening all the time) nickserv gives really strange messages in status like:

00:41:35] -NickServ- Âû óæå èäåíòèôèöèðîâàíû.

I think that should be: you are already registered.

Does any one has an idea whats wrong and how I can fix this? I am not an expert so please if there is a solution explain ut to me in simple words?

the Dutch langfile may be saved in the wrong format. Try downloading a fresh copy and install it. Don't forget to restart Anope.

Hi Katsklaw,

thank you for your reply. I have been looking for Dutch Langfiles for 1.8.4 but I can't find any files. Is it possible that you tell me where I can find it? And when I have one is it just overwrite the old one by using ftp upload program?

the langfiles are included in the lang/ directory and end with .l for example the French file would be fr.l. I don't think 1.8 supports Dutch but you can always translate the en_us.l file to Dutch.

1.8 has a dutch language file, though not entirely translated..

I think you should probably re-download anope and install it afresh to check if that solves the problem.. (1.8.4 is getting a bit older anyways.. ::))

Hi,

I downloaded and installed 1.8.6 but using bnc it still gives that weird messages.

Again about the languages. There is a Dutch language file in Anope 1.8.6 but some times it is in English and some times in Dutch but the whole file is translated.

the dutch translation certainly isn't complete.. there are english language string littered all over the file, but none of it should be unreadable crap though..

what modules do you have loaded?

It doesn't have to be an Anope problem.
Maybe it's your client text decoding. Have a look in your font settings, and try to check if you can see the text from other clients.
Also try to connect directly to the server, without the messages being passed through the BNC.

thanks a lot for your help. I tryed to connect with the same client directly without BNC en then it was fine so It must have nothing to do with Anope as you suggested. Thanks again.
