You should add the ability of ChanServ able to be assigned to a channel as a BotServ bot and making it bulit-in to the code.

Therefore even if there are no BotServ bots ChanServ will always be on the list (or make a config option which enables or disables the use of ChanServ as BotServ bot) and some people want ChanServ as its BotServ bot

there is a module for this which, this suggestion has been made quite a few times and has been turned down for various reasons, if you search the forums you might see why. but look in the modules section for cs_inhabitregistered

Those solutions never technically make ChanServ a BotServ bot, they just put ChanServ in the channel. You still can't use any BotServ actions on ChanServ as a bot then.....

no as it replaces all botserv bots with chanserv, the guy s just looking for a way to have chanserv in the botlist, something that can only be implemented in the core and is rather pointless imo. not that much work to create a botserv bot, would be easier to have services come with a default botserv bot if he doesn't want to have to create one.

and if you just want chanserv to serve as a botserv bot, what owine said is what you need, though it will replace all botserv bots with chanserv, and cannot be changed on a channel / channel basis (yet) - bug Tom65789 for that, but it would require a database so he won't be eager to add it in....

ChanServ isn't designed to be in channel to start with, let alone be a botserv bot. There is no point in making chanserv in a channel, let alone a botserv bot.

ChanServ's function is to maintain the channel, not to be a source of amusment, it is on a ulined server so it can do so very efficiently from outside the channel. Placing chanserv in channel does nothing outside of a little vanity. Vanity is BotServ's sole purpose. Use BotServ, or better yet, don't waste services' resources and use a client bot like an eggdrop and do things as they are meant to be.

Ok...so I guess the only way to get ChanServ as a BotServ bot is to have the Channel Service called 'ChanServ2' and add ChanServ to the BotServ list...now try and fight that

I have to say that BotServ is a better solution than an eggdrop, because BotServ is hosted from services, and thus is U:Lined and semi-immortal compared to 'just' an eggdrop. If you want a bot for fun games and everything, eggdrop is your choice. BotServ bots serve a better purpose at maintaining your channel because they're integrated into services.

Oh, to whoever said it has to be cored: it doesn't. It can be done in a module, but it'd require a lot of good thinkwork and research to get rid of all unwanted side-effects (like someone deleting chanserv from the bot list, resulting in chanserv quitting from the net... to name something )

Personally i think a BotServ bot named after your network would look better in channels then ChanServ would. Plus if you rename ChanServ to ChanServ2 and create a BotServ bot called ChanServ you WILL get users trying to register their channels with the BotServ bot and not the real ChanServ.

Not really because most servers support aliases /cs would goto ChanServ2
and I would disable the use of /msg ChanServ

Well personally i dont like the idea of renaming ChanServ to ChanServ2 and creatign a bot called ChanServ because it can make things very confusing. Especially for new users who may not understand things as well.
