Redundant services
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:26:47 PM »

I'm wondering whether it's possible for an IRC network to have redundant services. Say, a network has 5 daemons, and one central 'hub' which handles the services. If this hub server, for any reason, splits from the network, every daemon looses services and delink from each other. With redundant servers, a secondary hub could replace the main one if it splits, keeping the network intact.

Does anyone know how this can be done with Anope? If it matters, the daemon that is being used is Unreal.

Thanks,
Ben Henning

This can not be done with Anope currently.  I am unsure if we will ever handle redundant services in that way.

Oh well, I suppose this would be a feature request then, even if, as you say, it may never be implemented. :P

Thanks again,
